Azah Yazmin

Azah is a Registered and Licenced counsellor who specialises in relationship counselling.  She is Registered and Licenced with Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (LKM), a counselling body set up under the Counsellors Act 1998 (ACT 580), and is under the oversight of the Ministry Women Family and Community Development.  Azah started her career in private practice, Bright Counselling, in Kuala Lumpur in 2011.  In the last three years, Azah established a private practice in the UK. She co-shared a private practice with other therapists at Reconnect. EFT Clinic, London.  Azah is a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapist (BACP) and British Emotionally Focused Therapy (BEFT).  She provides counselling to a global clientele. With Reconnect EFT Clinic London, Azah hosts and co-train Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) workshops offline and online to audiences globally.  Azah is also an HRDF Certified Trainer in conducting the Master of Ceremonies workshop.

In collaboration with other counsellors and therapists in Malaysia, Azah co-founded the ‘Malaysian Marriage and Family Therapy Association’ (MyMFT) in 2016.  MyMFT promotes marriage and family therapy in Malaysia through public awareness programmes, education and professional development.  Formerly as the Vice-President of MyMFT, Azah actively participated in organising monthly professional talks and yearly International Expert Seminars. The MyMFT organises training by International Experts in Marriage and Family therapy.  In 2021, Azah became the founding member of ‘Trauma Therapy Association’, promoting Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy training and education.  EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress resulting from disturbing life experiences. 

Azah has Master of Science in Psychology with Merit from the University of Roehampton, London, Masters in Social Science in Counselling Psychology National University of Malaysia (UKM),  Post Graduate Diploma in Syariah Law and Practice (DSLP) from the International Islamic University (IIU), Malaysia and read Law at University Technology Mara (UiTM), Malaysia.

Although Azah received training from a range of therapeutic backgrounds, Azah works primarily from an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) perspective.  Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is the gold standard for empirically validated counselling approach in couple and relationships counselling. EFT is best known as a cutting edge, tested and proven approach to couple therapy.  EFT is also used to address individual depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress in individuals (EFIT – Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy) and repair family bonds (EFFT – Emotionally Focused Family Therapy).  Additionally, Azah also trained as an EMDR therapist.
